NGC 4222是一個位於后髮座的螺旋星系^[2]，距離地球6000萬光年^[3][4]，1784年4月8日由威廉·赫歇爾發現^[5]。NGC 4222屬室女座星系團^[6][7]，是NGC 4216的伴星系^[8]，兩者相距180,000 ly（56 kpc）^[9][8]，但並不是交互作用星系^[9]。
